With My Past is a puzzle platformer that tightly combines narrative with gameplay. The core mechanic of this game is that the player’s two-seconds-ago self exists simultaneously with their current self, and the player has to use their two-seconds-ago self to solve puzzles and explore how to face their past.
The player takes control of a blue-haired girl, who is suffering from bad choices made in the past and a present dilemma, unable to get rid of her remorse for the past. Together with her, players will solve allegorical puzzles and ponder how to face their past selves head-on. There are eight chapters in the game, each corresponding to a different stage of recognizing the past self, and the game mechanics change accordingly. The game has more than 180 levels and takes about three to four hours to play.
This game is characterized by an innovative combination of narrative and puzzles, with the design of an allegorical puzzle. The process of solving the puzzles is also a way for players to discover and explore the themes symbolized behind the fables.
