About This Game
Horror, at its core, is primal. You don’t need a multi-million dollar design budget or advanced realtime bullet physics to make something scary. You just have to have an idea that is raw, and the honesty to execute it.
P.T. perfectly illustrates this point. It takes place entirely in one hallway. It didn’t have complicated AI. There weren’t a dozen characters to design and model. Hell, there weren’t even that many scares. And it was absolutely terrifying. It distilled the concepts of the ill-fated Silent Hills into a dense moment of terror. It was its own compact experience, and a glimpse into something much more.
Many games have tried to imitate P.T. in content. A million spooky hallways with a trillion collectible notes. Some of these are fantastic. But what about that concept? To distill your dream project into something condensed, raw, and real?
That was the question posed to 10 brilliant creators. Make a P.T. for the horror project of your dreams. Both a game on its own, and a window into a much larger world. Make it raw. Make it real. Make it a reflection of your own fears. Make it in just 7 days.
And they did. This is the Dread X Collection.

Torple Dook – Hand of Doom: From the co-creator of Earl’s Day Off. Trapped in an arcane realm by the dark sorcery of the ubiquitous Master, can you learn the correct rituals and incantations needed to escape?

Reviews
“With gameplay experiences for nearly every type of horror gamer’s tastes, the DREAD X COLLECTION is an important and neoteric take on what indies and their gifted creators are capable of executing, especially on such a tight schedule. Limited to just a few key components, it’s proof that it doesn’t take large teams and inflated budgets to provide singular interpretations of what it means to feel truly afraid behind a keyboard or controller.”
4.5/5 – Rue Morgue
“For the $7 price of admission, Dread X Collection provides a breadth of different experiences, each having a distinct vision from its respective creator. If you’ve enjoyed previous games from any of the developers involved, this collection is well worth your time. Even if you haven’t, this release introduces many new creators you should probably be aware of. Finishing all the unique horror games here will likely take you around 10-15 hours, which ensures you get more than your money’s worth. This collection just further proves something I’ve known for a long time; you don’t need huge teams with massive budgets to create the types of horror games that make you feel a palpable sense of fear from behind a controller. Dread X Collection is a title that indie horror fans will not want to miss.”
8.5/10 – Rely On Horror
“Publisher Dread X brought us an original and compelling horror gaming anthology that makes sense both for its individual efforts as well as for the sum of its parts. It works so well for its variety, above all, being a showcase of the horror possibilities that video games can offer as an artistic expression. A window to a world so big and so small, at the same time, that feels as good as it is terrifying.”
8.5/10 – SHD – Survival Horror Downloads
